STRONG ISLAND FASTPITCH
ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT RULES (2026)

All teams must be registered with USA Softball to participate.

Games have a 90-minute time limit and will finish the inning. Games will end at the 100-minute hard stop.

The tournament entry fee does not include umpire fees.

The tournament format will be listed in the event information. Formats may vary between one-day tournaments.

The rules below apply to one-day tournaments unless otherwise stated in the event information posted on USA Softball.

Strong Island Fastpitch rules supersede USA Softball rules when the two sets of rules conflict.
WEEKEND TOURNAMENT RULES (2026)
-
All teams must be registered with USA Softball to participate.
-
Teams must be available to play on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Teams must also be ready and available at least 30 minutes before their scheduled start time to help keep games on schedule and ensure the tournament runs smoothly. No exceptions.

The tournament entry fee does not include umpire fees.

Umpire Fees
-
Saturday: $45 per team, per game — one umpire
-
Sunday: $80 per team, per game — two umpires
-

Tournament Format: Two-day event consisting of pool play followed by single-elimination bracket play.
-
Awards: Team awards will be presented to the tournament champion and runner-up.
-
10U and 12U Divisions: One Pool Play MVP Award will be presented after each game.
-
14U, 16U, and 18U Divisions: Individual awards will be presented to both finalist teams, along with an MVP Game Award.
-
Home and away teams for Saturday games will be determined by a coin toss.
-
A universal batting lineup is permitted on Saturday only.
-
Unlimited substitutions are permitted.
-
Courtesy runners are permitted for the pitcher and catcher.
-
Saturday games may end in a tie.
-
Game Time Limits
-
Spring and Fall: 1 hour and 15 minutes; finish the inning
-
Summer, beginning after Memorial Day: 1 hour and 20 minutes; finish the inning
-
Championship Games: 1 hour and 40 minutes; finish the inning
-
Sunday games that are tied will proceed under tie-breaker rules.

Sunday Batting Rules: DP/Flex is permitted, with a maximum of 10 batters in the lineup.

Seeding Criteria

Win-loss record
-
Head-to-head results, but only when all tied teams played one another

Runs allowed, averaged when teams played a different number of games

Runs scored, averaged when teams played a different number of games

Coin toss
-
The higher-seeded team will be the home team on Sunday.

Coaches must have copies of all player birth certificates available. No exceptions.
-
Teams must submit their rosters and be paid in full before their first game. No exceptions.

All teams must carry their own team insurance.

GUEST PLAYER POLICY
-
Guest players are permitted in all Strong Island Fastpitch tournaments.
-
Any guest player who is not listed on the team’s USA Softball roster requires the submission of an updated roster before the tournament begins.

The official roster should be submitted through USA Softball before the first pitch of the team’s first game.
-
When a roster cannot be updated through USA Softball, the team must submit a dated and time-stamped roster before its first game. Tournament staff will secure and record the submitted roster.

Guest players must:

Be age-eligible for the division

Be able to provide a birth certificate or other acceptable proof of age upon request
-

No guest player may be added after the tournament begins.
WEATHER POLICY
-
Strong Island Fastpitch will make every reasonable effort to complete the tournament.
-
Tournament cancellations, schedule changes, or delays caused by weather are at the sole discretion of Strong Island Fastpitch.

Once games have begun, USA Softball umpires will determine whether field and playing conditions are safe.
ROSTER ELIGIBILITY
Teams with a roster uploaded to USA Softball must ensure that the roster is complete and current before the tournament begins.

When a player cannot be added through USA Softball, the team must submit an updated roster by Friday night via email or provide it to the tournament desk before the team’s first game.
​
Any player being added to a roster must be submitted by Friday night via email to establish an official date and time stamp.
​
Every player who may participate at any point during the tournament must appear on the team’s official Friday roster through one of the following methods:

Listed on the team’s USA Softball roster; or

Submitted by email to STRONGISLANDFASTPITCHCO@gmail.com

No players may be added after the deadline. No exceptions.
Roster Verification
In the event of a roster check or challenge, coaches must be able to provide proof of their roster. The roster provided must match the official roster on file with Strong Island Fastpitch.

Teams must also have access to acceptable proof of age for every player. Proof may include:

A copy of the player’s birth certificate; or
-
A parent or guardian who is available to provide a copy or screenshot upon request
Teams will have a five-minute time limit to provide the requested roster and player-verification information during the tournament.

Strong Island Fastpitch reserves the right to disqualify a team that does not comply with these requirements. Failure to provide the required documentation may also result in the forfeiture of a game.
WEATHER AND RAIN CREDIT POLICY
Four-Game Guarantee

One game played: 75% tournament credit

Two games played: 50% tournament credit
-
Three games played: 25% tournament credit
-
Four games played: No tournament credit
All weather-related refunds will be issued as credits toward a future tournament.

PLAY-AT-YOUR-OWN-RISK POLICY
Participation in Strong Island Fastpitch events, leagues, and training sessions is voluntary and undertaken at each participant’s own risk.
By attending or participating, each participant acknowledges and accepts:

The risks associated with athletic competition

Responsibility for their own health and safety

That Strong Island Fastpitch assumes no liability for injuries, losses, or damages arising from participation

All participants should maintain appropriate insurance coverage and be physically and properly prepared to participate.
